Dylan Graves on a wave in Brisbane, Australia

Video by Dylan Graves.
"Hey Mate, I've got a wave for ya. It's in Brisbane, Australia"
That's how this adventure began when I received that message along with a video from Fraser Spratt via social media. (As you will see in the edit) Fraser's video was of a fun looking wave that breaks off of a passenger ferry that leaves from a town called Cleveland on the outskirts of Brisbane, Australia and takes people to North Stradbrook island. As I made plans with Fraser to go surf this wave, I had heard about Bede Durbidge (pro surfer) surfing it 20 years prior... which gave me SOME confidence after the first person I talked to about the wave near the ferry dock told me there was sharks EVERYWHERE, no biggie. THIS is the video I made of the whole experience :) Hope you like it!

Surfers: Fraser Spratt, Bede Durbidge, Robbie Rickard and myself

Lunacy | Scariest reef slab break in Australia

Video by SURFING VISIONS (Tim Bonython)

I've seen a lot very dangerous surfing locations but this spot Luna's takes the award for the scariest. Like all crazy slabbing waves in Australia they break on very shallow reefs. The Southern Ocean below Victoria Australia which is all part of the Shipwreck Coast that homes this lethal left hand reef break that not even the locals want to know about. If you wipe-out here, you will end up on the exposed reef on the inside. Out of the two days shooting, i filmed at least 4 surfers that got jammed up onto the inside reef. Watch till the end and you'll know what i mean.
This place is absolutely mental !!

Lunacy  - Features Jack Baker, Kipp Caddy, Jade McCreddan, Joshua Harry Hall, Jordy Turansky, Brad Stone, Adam Kesbar & Chris Dellar.

I love your passion for what we do..

Nothing quite like The Right

Ollie Henry, 18, surfed the monster wave, ‘The Right’ for the second time last week.Picture: Matt MacDonald

Big wave young gun Ollie Henry braved The Right for the second time last month and says there is no experience quite like it.

The 18-year-old surfer from Queensland, who moved to Dunsborough six years ago, said he did not know anyone else in his age group who liked to surf the notorious wave near Walpole.

That comes as no surprise, because being towed into the monster slab by jetski is not for the inexperienced or faint-hearted.

The boy stole the show with the wave of the day. Picture: Matt MacDonald

Henry said he felt more comfortable surfing The Right for the second time around but he was aware that things could go wrong at any moment.

“Things happened on big waves all the time,” he said.

“You know what you’re in for, so you prepare yourself mentally to do it.

“I know how powerful the waves can be, so there is that build up adrenaline rush where you know something could go wrong.”

This time around, Henry was accompanied by his mate, another 18-year-old — bodyboarder and photographer Matt MacDonald — who took these brilliants shots of Henry riding the wave.

Henry has been surfing since he was five.

He said could not wait to get back to The Right this year.
