Beauty and the Beast is exactly what Nazaré is.
This place is world-famous for a reason. The waves are monstrous — raw, violent, and capable of unleashing absolute chaos. Yet in the same breath, Nazaré can be calm, glassy, and breathtakingly beautiful. That contrast is what makes this place so addictive… and so unforgiving.
This season was the perfect example.Hot and cold. Feast or famine.
For nearly three weeks, Nazaré switched on — day after day of heavy surf, relentless energy, and serious consequences. Before that, and after it, the ocean went quiet. Average. Unremarkable. That’s the reality of chasing this wave.

After ten seasons documenting this place, you start to understand its rhythm. People often ask when the best time to come is. The window runs from mid-October and into March. If you’re betting on waves there, November and December are usually your best shot — but even then, it might only deliver for a week or two.
This edit was shot from every angle possible —from the water, sitting in the channel as the sets marched in…from land, capturing the scale as the cliffs and lighthouse dwarf the ocean…and from the sky, using drone footage to reveal just how alive and unpredictable this wave really is.
