Pro Surfer Caroline Marks Makes Second SI Swimsuit Issue Appearance

The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue is back.

For the second time, 2023 WSL world champion and 2024 Olympic gold medalist Caroline Marks will appear in the pages of the long-running annual special edition.

Surfers have always been a natural fit for a magazine issue dedicated to swimwear, with previous issues including the likes of Bruna Schmitz, Alana Blanchard, Anastasia Ashley, Malia Manuel, Courtney Conlogue, and Caroline Marks. With her inclusion in this year’s issue, helmed by cover models Salma Hayek, Lauren Chan, Olivia Dunne, and Jordan Chiles, Marks becomes the first surfer to make a second appearance. Not only that, but this time she’s sporting some new hardware from her momentous win at the Paris Olympics.

Caroline’s photoshoot paid tribute not only to her competitive prowess, but also her hometown of Boca Raton, Florida. In it, she was photographed by Ben Horton at the luxury resort The Boca Raton. In an interview with SI, she reminisced about the significance the area had for her surfing career. “One of my earliest memories of surfing, being at our local surf break over here in Florida, in Melbourne Beach,” she said “Just surfing with all my brothers and all my friends, that’s like my most core memory of surfing after school, before school. To this day, those are some of the best memories of my life.”

Marks’ previous Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue appearance was in 2020. The Turks & Caicos photoshoot, shot by photographer James Macari, happened shortly after her first Olympic appearance in the Tokyo games. “So excited to be included in the SI Swimsuit 2020 issue!” wrote Marks in an Instagram post promoting the release. “My favorite thing about Sports Illustrated is that they support so many diverse types of women and it’s an honor to be a part of that.”
