Nazare Heavy Water - Part 1| SURFINGVISIONS

Video by SURFING VISIONS.
This is the first real swell event coming from the North West. That's the direction you need to create the mountainous teepee waves that come out of the Nazare canyon. This whole edit is shot from the jet-ski sitting in the Nazare line up as we dodge monster walls of water.
I love to document this place from the water angle.
All shot on my Red digital camera filmed at 6 & 8K.

Nazare, Dancing with Monsters

Video by SURFING VISIONS.

Out of all the spots i have documented Nazare is most scary to film but at the same time it can be so rewarding. From the beginning on my first visit back in 2016 i was set up on the hill. There is a million spots to shoot from with a million other cameramen & women doing the same thing. So wanted something a little more exclusive. The water angle is it. Once your out there your nerves go into overdrive. You seriously need to trust your jet-ski driver. Dino Carmo is my man. Having being a professional bodyboarder and lived all his life at Nazare, Dino knows the Nazare line up like no other. Once your in the line up Dino puts you right deep inside where the moving mountains unload. He's incredibly focused and at all times constantly reassuring me that we are safe. It's so intense. Last season with the 25 days on the water this edit shows 14 minutes of my best vision.
I cant wait for my ninth season coming real soon. ENJOY!

PERFECT WAVES IN ERICEIRA | Nic von Rupp

A film by Von Rupp Media.

I would like to present to you the second episode of Portugal Back to Back the new series inside of the Von Froth channel that will bring to you waves, stories, and good times from north to south of Portugal.

In this episode, I take you on a tour around Ericeira, a town known for its world class waves, on a day with absolutely pumping offshore barrels where I alongside Frederico Morais, Aritz Aranburu and Gony Zubizarreta scored some crazy waves in Ericeira.

Ericeira is the first European World Surfing Reserve for well more than one reason. If seven waves are identified as making up the Reserve, there are at least a dozen more worth riding spread around these seven jewels.

WATCH | Red Bull production shows the best free surf of the world tops in Supertubos, Portugal

The world’s best surfers scored pumping waves in the depths of the Portuguese winter while in Peniche for the MEO Pro Portugal, and our man Scotty Hammonds was there to film the best of it. Supertubes lived up to its name in the pre-game, serving up icy Atlantic cylinders for our squad of CT rippers, everyone from Italo Ferreira and Jordy Smith, to Leo Fioravanti, Kanoa Igarashi and Morgan Cibilic.

It wasn’t just the Red Bull crew getting stuck into the pits and wedges on offer, with heavy hitters like John John Florence and Jack Robinson joining Aussie underdogs Ethan Ewing and Ryan Callinan in putting on a hard hitting display.

Nazare Biggest Swell of the Season | Nic Von Rupp

Photo: Margarita Salyak

Video by Nic Von Rupp.

2021 and 2022 has been a huge season for Nazaré, Massive swell after Massive Swell, Injuries after Injuries most of the tow teams have been swiped out including myself.. I was supposed to be out for the season due to a rib injury, but after seeing the Huge swell approaching Nazaré at 23ft at 21sec with perfect offshore winds, I knew it was a swell I couldn't miss out on, ribs were hurting, yet I felt like I needed to ignore that and just face the beast. So I called up Chumbo, he flew in from Hawaii and we made it happen.

Kanoa Igarashi on a Beyond the Lines Short

In 2021 Japanese superstar Kanoa Igarashi came back hungrier than ever in pursuit of his maiden WSL Championship Tour title. Beyond The Lines takes us behind the scenes on Kanoa’s journey.

Kanoa Igarashi is the quintessential global citizen. Japanese, but having grown up in Huntington Beach, California, these days Kanoa spends as much time living in Portugal as he does anywhere else on earth. He speaks four languages (and counting), and since claiming a maiden WSL Championship Tour victory in Bali in 2019 the natural footer's star has shot into the stratosphere.

His success in Indonesia couldn't have been timed better; along with close friend, travel partner and videographer Tanner Carney, Kanoa had just started filming an unnamed, fly on the wall look at his life on the road. As he hoisted the trophy over Balinese black sand Beyond The Lines was born, with an opening episode that couldn't have been better scripted.

As we all know too well things went a little awry in 2020, and after an entertaining opening series Beyond The Lines, much like the world itself, was momentarily paused. A year later and although not yet smooth sailing, the world slowly started to right itself. The WSL pulled together a slimmed down version of the Championship Tour and the 2020 Games were held in Tokyo, which for hometown hero Kanoa was the greatest opportunity yet to put his name up in lights.

Our man Tanner tagged along for the ride once again, from the season opener at Pipeline in Hawaii on to Australia and through Mexico and the US, all via Japan and the Tokyo Games. To say the result is entertaining would be selling the 40-minute edit short, Kanoa's trust in Tanner is on full display as he puts himself out there and lets his friend do the rest.

Don't just take out word for it though, please hit play and join us in an extended study into the rollercoaster life of an elite athlete at the top of the game, fighting for success in an unpredictable word. We love it, and hope you do too. Enjoy.

Yesterday, dramatic moment in Nazaré

Yesterday, you already know that Nazare got wild, big seas and high winds, just about anything can happen. A ski piloted by Alemao de Maresias, with Andrew Cotton on the back, got clipped near the cliffs of gigantic Nazare, which ended up bucking both of these legends into a pretty dire situation.

The tension was maximum, but both managed to be rescued. What a scare this was.

Winter swells are back in Nazare

Nic von Rupp "Last week was insane at Nazaré, back to back swells in the 20-30ft range, we thought we were going to tow but it ended up being a all paddle swell with some big barrels in the mix.

Always dreamt about riding a huge barrel at Nazaré. It’s that one frontier that hasn’t been cracked properly at Nazaré. Everything came together on this day, 15-20ft perfect condition and I finally got what I was looking for a big barrel on a 10’4 board."
