Tragedy in Zicatela - RIP Oscar Serra

Spanish surfer Oscar Serra, 22, died this Saturday while surfing on Zicatela beach in Puerto Escondido, in the Mexican state of Oaxaca, the Spanish Surfing Federation confirmed this Sunday.

"A day of big waves in Zicatela (Puerto Escondido) has given us a very hard blow ... Our most sincere condolences to family and friends for the loss of Oscar Serra. There are no words to describe so much pain ... Life is many sometimes unfair. DEP, "the agency wrote on the social network Twitter.

According to the Mexican newspaper El Universal, the event took place at 7 a.m. local time on the beach of the tourist town of Puerto Escondido. The municipal authorities had decreed the area with a red flag due to the swell, but, according to what they point out, the Valencian surfer entered the water.

While surfing the top of a wave, Serra fell from a height of two meters and hit the seabed. The rescuers rescued him and applied first aid, but they were unable to revive him, so they proceeded to remove his body and report it to the Spanish embassy in Mexico. According to the same media, nine people have drowned on the beaches of the Costa de Oaxaca region so far in 2021.
