DID YOU HEAR THE FALLING ROSE?

Video by Billabong.

This past winter, we had the privilege of visiting Morocco and embarking on a journey along the raw and remote coastline of the Sahara desert with Wasted Talent. Led by well-versed Saharan surfers and explorers, Soufiane Charoub and Jerome Sahyoun, we covered almost the entirety of the coastline within a mere 10 days. We started the trip in the live and vibrant city of Casablanca, and then ventured south on a 3,000 km road trip in hopes of finding empty waves. Join Ryan Callinan, Luana Silva, Jai Glindeman and Macy Callaghan on the journey in our latest Adventure Division film, ‘Did You Hear The Falling Rose?’

Josie Prendergast

I have been fortunate enough to be raised next to the ocean and have had the opportunity to come back and reconnect with the island and our family when I can. Last November, with my Billabong family I was able to explore, shoot, surf and go on adventures around my island home. There are no words that illustrate the love I have for my family and with that being said majority of them live in the Philippines.
It was incredibly special to me that Billabong were able to meet and share time with the people who mean so much to me. Reflecting on that special week, so many amazing memories were created and shared.
My love for this island and the incredible people will never fade, never die. Siargao makes my heart sing and fills it full of love. I cannot express how special this place is to me; it is otherworldly.

Board Tales, Episode 1 - Rasta in Byron

Video from: Billabong
Episode 1 of Board Tales takes place in Byron Bay at the residence of Dave Rastovich. Dave candidly describes stories of pivotal boards in his life found through travel, friendship and the common bond of wave riding. Dave describes each board along with the approach, feel and mindset behind them. In the end, we learn that Dave has chosen to give away most of these boards so that others can experience the same happiness through these crafts that he has - a truly selfless act.

River Bore - Party Wave

Video from Billabong
Imagine riding a mile long wave with all of your friends. Billabong went to a small town near Bordeaux and did just that. While on location in Europe, the Billabong team just so happened to be right by a natural wonder that only occurs once in a blue moon, a River Bore. For this wave to break it takes an extreme incoming tide.

When the team heard about it they were frothing, and everyone made the trip to the wine-rich and river wave-rich town. Upon arrival there was a crazy scene of wild personalities ready to ride the river bore on anything that would float. The particular spot that they arrived at on the river was known for producing rides over a mile long. The team lucked out in one instance and everyone from Occy to Rasta, Creed to Dorian and Jack Freestone to Caleb Tancred rode the wave in unison for a party wave of epic proportions.

This River Bore was the perfect setting for the ultimate party wave, proving once again that Life’s Better in Boardshorts.
