It made us remember how much we miss Andy, but also how much we miss the rivalry between him and Kelly. This week, we’re revisiting A Fly In The Champagne. Released a year before Andy’s death and a few years after the peak of Andy and Kelly’s heated world title battles, AFITC is a playful retrospective featuring the best rivalry surfing has seen, or likely ever will see.

A Fly in the Champagne - Kelly Slater, Andy Irons (Full Movie)

Kelly Slater and Andy Irons invited some of their childhood hero's and best friends along on the trip to Fiji for the making of A Fly in the Champagne. Check out Slater, AI, Martin Potter, Shane Dorian, and Ross Williams absolutely destroying the Fijian paradise. Available on iTunes: http://georiot.co/3wOI / Amazon: http://georiot.co/1HBb After a decade of bitter rival status, Kelly Slater and Andy Irons come together to surf off their differences ! To get two seemingly mortal enemies to agree to sequester themselves on a tiny island with a half dozen camera men, a Hollywood interviewer capable of conjuring up tears during any interview, and an in-the-know magazine staff waiting with bated breath seemed like a ridiculous notion. The end result was a ten day purge of feelings, emotional baggage, dispelling rumors, talking it out, and a burying of the hatchet once and for all. Oh, and we forgot to mention that the waves were insane!

SURF - BLUE HORIZON

The world's most renowned surfing cinematographer, Jack McCoy, spends two years following two of the world's greatest surfers: Andy Irons, a highly competetive and driven surfer, set on beating Kelly Slater and winning the world title, and Dave "Rasta" Rastovich, a free surfer who is more about the soul of surfing. The result: Blue Horizon, a documentary made to bring surf movies back to the big screen, where "they truly belong".
